Program Assistant
Summary Description. As a member of A Bigger World Foundation, the Program Assistant is responsible for delivering programs to our students throughout the entire year. Educational programming is provided in-person at John Lewis Middle School in Waukegan, IL. The Program Assistant provides tutoring, homework support, and encouragement support to students during in-person after-school programming and summer programming. This position is based in Waukegan, IL.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Delivery (approx 80%)
- Lead a classroom of middle school students in afterschool and summer programming focused on goal setting, social/emotional learning, and academic achievement 
- Treat all students with dignity, respect, and fairness and promote positive relationships with students, A Bigger World staff, and school staff 
- Ensure all programs, lessons, and activities are organized and conducted in a professional manner that represents A Bigger World’s focus and philosophies 
- Demonstrate patience and encouragement to students 
- Keep records for attendance, behavior and lessons 
- Promote program participation by encouraging regular student attendance and recruiting new students 
- Attend field trips 
Administrative (approx 20%)
● Help prepare and organize materials for the program
● Perform administrative tasks related to tracking students’ attendance, grades, and behaviors
Salary Range. Salary range starts at $25 per hour
Experience Required
- Some college preferred 
- Experience working with youth 
Other Requirements
- Pass a DOJ fingerprint clearance 
- Complete and pass mandated reporter training 
Schedule
- Part-time, 20–25 hours per week, occasional evening work required. 
- After school programming with students: Monday - Thursday 2:30-4:30pm 
- Summer Programming with students: Monday - Friday 9am-2pm
